Featuring: IBM Executive on ‘The Business of Social Media’ &
Leader of Business Council of Fairfield County on ‘State of Business in Fairfield County’
Stamford, CT, November 15, 2012 — The Fairfield County Chapter of The American Marketing Association (AMA) is teaming up with two other local communications organizations — the Fairfield County Communications Association (FCCA) and the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA) Westchester/Fairfield Chapter — to host a holiday cocktail party that will feature two outstanding presentations, much holiday cheer and abundant business networking. The event will be held at The Water’s Edge at Giovanni’s, 2748 Boston Post Road, Darien, CT, on December 12, starting at 6:30 pm. It is open to all marketing and communications professionals.
As part of the evening, the AMA will continue its series on “Going Social” for business with a presentation by Eric Lesser, research director and North American leader for the IBM Institute for Business Value. Mr. Lesser will discuss how organizations can use social approaches to create meaningful business value and present the results of the new IBM Institute for Business Value study, which is based on responses from more than 1,100 individuals and interviews with more than two dozen executives from leading organizations.
Social business represents a significant transformational opportunity for organizations. Many companies, after initial forays into external social media, are now realizing the value of applying social approaches, internally as well as externally. Social business can create valued customer experiences, increase workforce productivity and effectiveness and accelerate innovation. However, many companies still wrestle with the organizational and cultural challenges posed by these new ways of work.
In addition to Mr. Lesser’s presentation, Christopher P. Bruhl, president and chief executive officer of The Business Council of Fairfield County, a private non-profit corporation founded in 1970, will discuss the state of business in Fairfield County. The Business Council serves as a catalyst for private sector involvement in developing public policy that promotes regional economic growth and is the vehicle for its network of business leaders to work cooperatively to strengthen their own businesses.
